In 1979 Jack Thorington and Mike Hodd wrote NewsRevue, a topical comedy show, which appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - and has run ever since. It is the World’s Longest Running Live Comedy Show (Guinness Book of Records)

It runs continuously at the Canal Cafe Theatre and appears every year at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Canal Cafe Theatre opened in 1984 in London’s

Little Venice. It specialises in comedy and musical theatre, and is the home of NewsRevue.

It was set up by Peter Atkinson, Brian Bethell, Mike Hodd, and Jack Thorington. Brian Bethell sold his share to the others, Peter Atkinson died in 2004, and Jack Thorington has disappeared.
